The 24-year-old is just behind the young Indian batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has smashed 655 runs in 8 innings of the 4 Tests so far, with a sensational average of 93.57, hitting 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries.

Coming back to Gill, he was one of the vital cogs in the wheel to lead India towards a series-defining win in the fourth Test of the series in Ranchi. He scored a crucial and unbeaten half-century, scoring 52 runs with 2 sixes, alongside Dhruv Jurel’s unbeaten 39 runs with 2 fours to help India chase down the total and win the match by 5 wickets, scoring 192 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. The duo also stitched an unbeaten partnership of 72 runs for the sixth wicket.
