In a recent piece of news, India announced their updated squad for the fifth and last Test of the five-match series against England. There are a few changes in the squad, alongside the return of the star pace spearhead and vice-captain of the side, Jasprit Bumrah. He was rested from the recently concluded fourth Test of the series and replaced by the debutant Akash Deep.

Apart from that, the senior batter KL Rahul has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test of the series; he is currently in London with specialists to monitor his quadriceps injury, which he sustained in the first Test of the series against the Three Lions.

Meanwhile, the board has also released the young all-rounder Washington Sundar from the national squad to join his home state team, Tamil Nadu for the upcoming Ranji Trophy Semi-final against Mumbai. However, the Ranji Trophy Semi-final between Tamil Nadu and Mumbai will be starting on March 2nd, so, Washington Sundar might be called back in the Indian squad for the Dharamsala Test if the team requires him.

Apart from all this, the management has also given a nod to the out-of-form Rajat Patidar in the fifth Test of the series. He might also get picked in the playing XI as KL Rahul has already been ruled out from the squad.

Here’s a look at the updated squad of India for the 5th Test in Dharamsala:

Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Akash Deep.

The final fixture of the ongoing five-match series between India and England will commence on Thursday, March 7 at the HPCA Cricket Stadium in Dharamsala. Notably, Rohit Sharma’s India have already taken an unassailable lead of 3-1in the series with three consecutive wins after a defeat in the first Test.
