Having defeated England in the white ball series, the Men in Blue have now set their sight on the tour of the West Indies. The first ODI of the three-match series is slated to be played on July 22.
Let’s look at all the details of the upcoming match.
India vs West Indies First ODI:
India: The Indian team will be without the senior players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah in the ODI series. Shikhar Dhawan has been named as the captain of the ODI team.
Having won the white ball series against England just a couple of days ago and clean swept West Indies in February this year, India look confident going into this series. India’s last tour of the West Indies came way back in 2019 when the visiting team won the series 2-0.
Virat Kohli came up with a century knock in the final game of that series, bagging Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series. Unfortunately, for the Indian batter, that was the last century he scores in International cricket.
West Indies: West Indies are coming off of a 3-0 clean sweep by Bangladesh at home. They won the Test and T20I series before losing 3-0 to the Asian country in the ODI series. It wouldn’t be incorrect to say that West Indies are at their weakest in the ODI format.
They have struggled to strike a correct balance between playing defensively and aggressively. On many occasions, the West Indian team struggle to bat the whole 50 overs. Winning the upcoming series against India will be a big challenge, despite the fact that India are playing with a second-string side.
India vs West Indies Probable XI:
India Probable XI: Shikhar Dhawan (c), Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal

Pitch Report:
The pitch at Queen’s Park Oval offers support to both bowlers as well as batters. As the game progresses, however, the pitch becomes unpredictable which means the teams would have to see off the first few overs. Expect a slow start.
The average score on this ground is 210. The weather forecast predicts light rain with a temperature of 25 degrees Celcius.
