Former Indian skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli has faced a flak of the Indian Cricket Board amidst the Asia Cup 2023 preparations. The Men in Blue will start their campaign in the continental championship with their first clash against the arch-rivals Pakistan.
Both teams will play this highly-anticipated match at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, the 2nd of September. Prior to that, the Indian players are going through fitness tests and training at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
In the same line of events, former skipper Virat Kohli took to his Instagram handle to post a story. In the story, he mentioned passing the mandatory Yo-Yo Test and also revealed his score on the Test. Notably, the score achieved by players in the Yo-Yo Test is supposed to be a confidential concern for both players and the management.
“The happiness of finishing the Yo-Yo test between the dreaded cones. 17.2 don.,” wrote Virat Kohli with his picture in the Instagram story, which he posted on Thursday.
This social media antic from the former skipper didn’t go down well with the top officials of the board. A report in the Indian Express has also learned that the board and top management have guided the players ‘verbally’ on their concern about the same.
Here’s a look at the Instagram story of Virat Kohli:
"Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter." - Board official on Yo-Yo Test
“Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training but posting a score leads to a breach of the contract clause,” said an Indian Cricket Board official to the Indian Express.
India had already announced the 17-men squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 including Sanju Samson as one travelling reserve in the squad. All the squad members will be attending the preparatory camp organized by the management ahead of the start of the tournament. The tournament is going to be very crucial for the Men in Blue in their preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, in their backyard.
