India failed to convert their remarkable comeback in a series win during the five-match T20I series against West Indies. Earlier, the Men in Blue registered two consecutive wins in the third and fourth T20I after two straight defeats in the first and second T20I; with those wins, they managed to level the series by 2-2.

But it was the hosts who crossed the winning line and registered an impressive series win against India. Apart from this, the star West Indies bowler Romario Shepherd also opened up on their strategy for Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson and star batter, Suryakumar Yadav.

He also explained how their plans worked against both the star Indian batters. Sanju could score only 13 runs whereas SKY managed to hit a half-century and scored 61 runs. “To Sanju, the plan was to hit the wicket and to Surya to get him to hit straight down the ground,” said Shepherd during the post-match presentation.

Later, he also spoke about the series win of his team and also the importance of this victory for the confidence of the Caribbean side in international cricket. “It meant a lot to us especially because we’ve been going through some hard times in the past couple of months so to win against a team like India, it means a lot for us and the fans,” said Shepherd.

Speaking of the match, the visiting skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bat first; although his decision couldn’t work and Team India could score only 165 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav scored a half-century and other than him, Tilak Varma was the only batter to touch the individual mark of 20+ runs.

The hosts comfortably chased down the target in 18 overs, scoring 171 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Star opener Brandon King played a brilliant knock of 85 runs, alongside 47 runs scored by wicketkeeper-batter, Nicholas Pooran. Eventually, West Indies won the match by 8 wickets and sealed the series by 3-2.
