Indian Super League 2022-23: Top Three Contenders To Lift The Trophy

The ninth edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) is going to kick off on 7 October 2022. Hyderabad FC won the last edition of the tournament. Now, Kerala Blasters will take on East Bengal in their home ground for the tournament opener.

However, there are several teams who have strengthened their squad from the last year. These teams will look to give tough competition this time around. More quality players in every department have been added as teams will look to display good football to their fans.  

Here are three teams who are the top contenders to win this edition of the Indian Super League

Hyderabad FC

This team will start this year’s edition of the Indian Super League as the defending champions. Hyderabad FC will look to defend their titles which they won for the first time in their history. Bartholomew Ogbeche will be their key player once again. In the history of this tournament, Ogbeche is the top scorer (53 goals in 77 matches).

ATK Mohun Bagan

This team can be another favourite to win this edition of the Indian Super League. Last year, they finished in the third position after the group stage. They managed to reach the semi-final. There, they lost against the eventual champions, Hyderabad FC. So, they will look to do well this time around. With new players added, ATK Mohun Bagan will look to bring smiles to their fans.     

Bengaluru

This team will start their campaign in this edition of the Indian Super League as one of the favourites. Last year, Bengaluru fans were not happy as their team failed to qualify for the final four spots. This team finished in the sixth position with 29 points from 20 matches. Now, ahead of this new season, they added Roy Krishna to their attacking group. With more quality players like him, Bengaluru fans will dream of more glory. However, they recently won the Durand Cup by defeating Mumbai City FC with a scoreline of 2-1.
