Now, both teams will be eyeing to register their second consecutive win in the tournament. There will be a few players from both teams who might attract the headlines and create a big difference in the match during the crucial moments for their teams.
With said that, here we’ll have a look at three players to watch out for in the eighth match of the tournament between Rajasthan and Punjab.
Jos Buttler
The star England skipper and senior batter, Jos Buttler won ‘the Player of the Match award for his match-defining knock in Rajasthan’s campaign opener against Hyderabad in Hyderabad. He played a crucial knock of 54 runs off just 22 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes to his name.
Apart from that, the 32-year-old was the highest run-scorer in the tournament last year and won the orange cap in the Indian T20 League 2023. He scored 863 runs in 17 innings of the 17 matches he played with an amazing average of 57.53 with four centuries and four half-centuries.
He could be a great asset for Rajasthan in their second match against Shikhar Dhawan’s men in Guwahati.
Yuzvendra Chahal
The veteran Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal continued his golden run of form with the ball in the Indian T20 League 2023 from last year’s edition. In the campaign opener against Hyderabad, Chahal made a big difference by scalping four wickets by conceding 17 runs in his quota of four overs.
Just like his teammate Jos Buttler, Chahal also finished as a leading wicket-taker in the Indian T20 League 2022; he claimed 27 wickets in 17 innings of the 17 matches of the tournament including a four-wicket haul and five-wicket haul. Chahal could trouble the Punjab batting lineup at the tricky track of Barsapara Stadium.
Arshdeep Singh
The young pacer shone for Punjab in the campaign opener against Kolkata; he scalped three wickets by conceding 19 runs in three overs. He also won ‘the Player of the Match award for his excellent performance in the match. Later on, Punjab won the match by seven runs courtesy of Arshdeep’s amazing performance.
Speaking of his recent performances, Arshdeep has scalped 11 wickets in his last 10 appearances. He has also been impressed with his performances in international cricket lately at the highest level of the game for the national side of India.
