Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz will play for the Kolkata franchise in the Indian T20 League 2023
On 13 November, the news came out that the Gujarat franchise have traded Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz to the Kolkata franchise for the next season. Now, they will play the next edition of the tournament for Kolkata. The Board also shared an official statement regarding that.
The statement reads: “New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been traded from the Gujarat franchise to the Kolkata franchise for the upcoming Indian T20 League 2023. He played 13 matches for the Gujarat franchise and picked 12 wickets that included a 4-wicket haul. The Kolkata franchise have also traded Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz from the Gujarat franchise. He was included in the Gujarat franchise’s squad in the 2022 Indian T20 League edition as a replacement for England batter Jason Roy but did not play any game last season.”
Both Gurbaz and Ferguson were part of Gujarat’s title-winning campaign last year. However, Gurbaz did not play for the franchise. While Lockie Ferguson had a decent season. He took 12 wickets in 13 matches, at an economy of 8.96. Ferguson also bowled the quickest delivery of the season. Meanwhile, this Kiwi pacer has already represented the Kolkata franchise from 2017 to 2021. So, Kolkata fans were crazy after seeing this speedster back in the franchise for the next Indian T20 League season.
