Indian T20 League has been one of the most exciting T20 leagues in all these years. Players from all around the globe come to India to represent their respective franchises. However, all franchises are currently busy preparing for the auction for the 2023 edition of the tournament. The auction will take palace in Kochi on 23 December 2022.

Meanwhile, many top-class performances have come throughout all these years from various players. Many bowlers managed to perform well for their teams as they came up with some vicious spells. Fans also found those spells memorable and those will be cherished forever in the history of the Indian T20 League.      

Here are the top five bowling performances of all time in the history of the Indian T20 League:

Jasprit Bumrah 5/10 vs Kolkata, 2022

It was the 56th match of the 2022 Indian T20 League that took place in DY Patil Stadium. Speaking of the match, Mumbai won the toss and asked Kolkata to bat first. While batting first, Kolkata scored 165 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. But, Jasprit Bumrah made headlines as he picked up five wickets for 10 runs in four overs. 

Bumrah also bowled a triple wicket-maiden over in the 18th over of Kolkata’s innings. However, in reply, Mumbai batters failed to chase down the target. They got bundled out for 113 runs in 17.3 overs. Bumrah’s magical spell came in a losing cause but still, he won the player of the match award.  

Alzarri Joseph 6/12 vs Hyderabad, 2019

It was the 19th match of the 2019 Indian T20 League that took place in Hyderabad. Speaking of the match, Hyderabad won the toss and opted to field first. While batting first, Mumbai scored 136 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. Only Pollard scored 46* runs off 26 balls to reach that total.

In reply, Hyderabad batters failed miserably as they got bundled out for 96 runs. Alzarri Joseph was the star of the show as he took six wickets for 12 runs in 3.4 overs. Thus, Mumbai won that match by 40 runs. However, it was Joseph’s Indian T20 League debut and he produced the best bowling figure of all time. He also won the player of the match award for that performance.      

Ishant Sharma 5/12 vs Kochi, 2011

It was the 32nd match of the 2011 Indian T20 League that took place in Kochi. Speaking of the match, Kochi won the toss and opted to field first. While batting first, the Deccan Chronicles-owned franchise scored 129 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. But, in reply, Kochi got bundled out for just 74 runs in 16.3 overs.

Ishant Sharma was the star of the show as he took five wickets for 12 overs in three overs. He took three wickets for one run in the first over he bowled in that match. However, Ishant’s team won the match by 55 runs and he won the player of the match award. Meanwhile, Dale Steyn also took three wickets for 16 runs in 3.3 overs along with the Indian pacer.         

Anil Kumble 5/5 vs Rajasthan, 2009

It was the second match of the 2009 Indian T20 League that took place in Cape Town. Speaking of the match, Bangalore won the toss and opted to bat first. They scored 133 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. But, in reply, Rajasthan got bundled out for just 58 runs in 15.1 overs. Anil Kumble was the star of the show as he picked up five wickets for just five runs in 3.1 overs.

However, he did not win the player of the match award and Bangalore registered a 75-run victory over Rajasthan. Rahul Dravid won the player of the match award for scoring 66 runs off 48 balls, including eight fours and one six. Kumble also bowled a two-wicket maiden over in that spell. 

Sohail Tanvir 6/14 vs Chennai, 2008

It was the 24th match of the 2008 Indian T20 League that took place in Jaipur. Speaking of the match, Chennai won the toss and opted to bat first. But, while batting first, Chennai lost all of their wickets for just 109 runs in 19 overs. Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir took six wickets for 14 runs in four overs.

In reply, Rajasthan chased down the target in just 14.2 overs with eight wickets in the bag. Sohail Tanvir won the player of the match award for his fantastic spell. In the first three overs of that spell, he managed to take five wickets by conceding only three runs. Eventually, Rajasthan won that edition of the tournament also.
