Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since September. The seamer suffered a back injury just before Asia Cup and couldn’t recover fully which further led to him missing the 20-20 World Cup in Australia. Bumrah is expected to make a comeback in the Border Gavaskar Trophy scheduled to begin in February 2023. Ahead of the series, the speedster shared a video of his recovery session with his fans on Twitter.

In the video, Bumrah can be seen working out hard at an indoor training facility. “Never easy, but always worth it,” Bumrah wrote in the caption.

After suffering from a stress reaction in August this year, Bumrah failed to take part in the Asia Cup. However, he returned to the Indian team in three-match T20I series against Australia in September and played the second and third T2OI. But he was once again ruled out of the next series against South Africa due to back pain.

Bumrah later underwent rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru but that was not enough to become fully fit for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. It was later revealed by Chief Selector Chetan Sharma that the team management tried to rush Bumrah back into the team despite him not being recovered fully.

India badly missed the services of their star pacer in both the Asia Cup and the 20-20 World Cup as they failed to qualify for the finals of both tournaments. India struggled with their bowling at the death as the veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar was taken to the cleaners in the Asia Cup. In the 20-20 World Cup, India suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against England in the semi-final of the tournament as they chased down the target of 169 with four overs to spare.

With the World Test Championship final and the ODI World Cup 2023 set to take place next year. The team will be hoping that Bumrah becomes fully fit for the mega tournaments.
