IPL 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders announce replacement for England pacer Gus Atkinson

The two-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders will be missing the services of star England pacer Gus Atkinson in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024.

In a recent piece of news, Kolkata Knight Riders have announced the replacement for the star England pacer Gus Atkinson for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024. The English quick will not be available for the side to represent in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League.

In the same line of events, star Sri Lanka pacer Dushmantha Chameera has been included in the KKR squad as a replacement for Gus Atkinson. Chameera will be joining the KKR camp at a base price of INR 50 Lakh. The last time, it was in 2022 when Chameera played in the Indian Premier League.

He represented the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2022 and scalped 9 wickets in 12 appearances for LSG.

“Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have named Dushmantha Chameera as a replacement for England pacer Gus Atkinson for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024,” reads an official statement from IPL through a media release.

“Chameera will join KKR at a reserve price of INR 50 Lakh. The Sri Lankan speedster, who is known for his pace, and can trouble the batters with his swing and seam movements, was a part of Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2018 and 2021 IPL seasons, respectively. He represented Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 season, where he picked up nine wickets from 12 matches,” the statement adds further.
