Former India captain MS Dhoni is one of the most popular cricketers in the world despite not having played international cricket for over three years. Though not active on social media, Dhoni has a huge fan following. The wicket-keeper batter now appears on the cricket field only during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and rules the internet with his little cameos. Meanwhile, the 42-year-old continues to trend on social media with his funky fashions even during his off time.

Recently, the legendary cricketer grabbed the attention of cricket fans with his ponytail hairstyle. His video went viral on microblogging platforms with fans buzzing about Dhoni bringing back his old long hairstyle. Just four days later, Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) talisman took the internet by storm with a new long hairstyle, recalling his vintage look.

Dhoni sported long hair in the early stages of his cricket career. However, after guiding India to victory in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, he cut his hair short. Since then he has been trying out different styles, but now he is adopting the old style ahead of the 2024 IPL, which could be his last season as a player.

Aalim Hakim, a celebrity hairstylist, did a beautiful job by making Dhoni a match for Bollywood stars. Hakim shared a few pictures of Dhoni's new hairdo along with a long note on his Instagram handle.

His post read: "It's an amazing opportunity for any creative person to get associated with Mahendra Singh Dhoni and I'm always grateful that I get this honour to show my craft by styling his hair... We have done some really cool different hairstyles in the past but before the last IPL when everyone was cutting their hair sharp and short... That time Mahi bhai showed me one image of his which was a fanmade image of him with long hair and I just got fascinated with that image and requested him to grow his hair long... We both promised each other that will not touch his hair and keep growing it and then we will cut & style it.

"I have been a huge fan of Mahi bhai's long hair, we decided to create an all new texture and colour for the hair...I really enjoyed creating this effortless hairstyle for Mahi bhai. Always a pleasure to work with him."
