India and West Indies are now on the equal note in the three-match ODI series as it has been leveled on the score line of 1-1 after 2nd ODI.

In an utter disappointment for the Indian cricket fans, Team India lost to West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series. What hurt Indian fans the most was that the West Indies team that they lost to a team in the recent match, that didn't even make it to the main edition of the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Speaking of the action of the match, the hosts won the toss and asked India to bat first. The men in blue got a good start from their young opening pair of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill. They stitched a partnership of 90 runs for the first wicket.

The collapse of the batting line up costed the match to India

After Gill was dismissed with the team score at 90 runs, the batting lineup collapsed and the entire team was bowled out for an additional 91 runs. Eventually, India could score only 181 runs, losing all wickets in 40.5 overs.

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was the only player to score a half-century; he contributed with 55 runs alongside a 34-run knock from his opening partner Shubman Gill. Apart from these two, none of the Indian batters couldn’t even touch the individual mark of 20+ runs except Suryakumar Yadav’s slow-paced 25-ball 24 runs.

Gudakesh Motie and Romario Shepherd scalped three wickets each for West Indies, alongside two claimed by Alzarri Joseph. Apart from these two, Jayden Seales and Yannic Cariah also picked one wicket each for the hosts.

While chasing the target, West Indies comfortably crossed the line in 36.4 overs courtesy of the brilliant fifth-wicket partnership between skipper Shai Hope and Keacy Carty. They played the unbeaten knocks of 63 and 48 runs, respectively, to help West Indies win the match by 6 wickets and level the series by 1-1.

Following India’s defeat by a margin of 6 wickets, the fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment and frustration. Fans also looked unhappy with the over-experimental approach of head coach Rahul Dravid and the lack of planning in Team Management.
