Indian cricketer Venkatesh Iyer recently grabbed the eyeballs when he met the former Indian WWE superstar The Great Khali. A photo of Khali and Iyer is making rounds on social media as soon as an X user shared it on the micro-blogging site. Khali was in WWE for a long time as he defeated a lot of established superstars, including The Undertaker, Triple H and John Cena.
Speaking of Venkatesh Iyer, he is not a part of the national side of India since he made his last appearance in the Paarl T20I against South Africa on February 27, 2022. Since then, he has been active in domestic cricket as he played his last match in the Deodhar Trophy on August 1 against South Zone.
Venkatesh Iyer's wait for India comeback prolongs
Iyer hasn’t been very impressive so far since his India debut as he has scored only 24 and 133 runs in 2 ODIs and 9 T20Is, respectively. Apart from that, he has only 5 wickets with the ball as an all-rounder in his short international career so far.
However, the 28-year-old has some good numbers to his name in domestic cricket as he has scored 585 First Class runs with an average of 32.50, 1316 runs with an average of 43.86 in List-A cricket, and 2177 runs in 94 T20s with an average of 33.49.
Apart from that, he has also scalped a total of 71 wickets with the ball in domestic cricket. He is associated with the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in the Indian Premier League. Unlike his below-par numbers in international cricket, Iyer had a quite good season with KKR in the Indian Premier League 2023 earlier this year.
He scored 404 runs in 14 innings with an average of 28.86, including a century and two half-centuries. Other than that, he didn’t get a chance to bowl for his team throughout the entire tournament.
