Since Deepti Sharma ran out Charlie Deen to win the third ODI against England, 'Mankading' has divided the cricket fraternity. While a lot of former and current England players have criticized this form of dismissal, others have supported it. Meanwhile, England's white-ball skipper Jos Buttler has also joined the bandwagon. He was asked what he would do if his player resorts to 'Mankading' a World Cup final. The right-hander said, "No, I am calling the batsman back." in a conversation with talkSport.

The wicketkeeper batter added that no one wants to see a bowler 'Mankading' a batter. Buttler believes that the game must be about the battle between bat and bowl and watching great games of cricket. The 2019 World Cup winner added that he understands that there is a rule in place. However, the England white-ball skipper feels that there are some grey areas while pointing out the 'Expected to bowl' part.

"No one wants to see them in the game because they always create such a talking point when it should be about the battle between bat and ball and watching great games of cricket. They always seem to happen at unsavory times."

"I understand you have to have the rule there so people can’t just gain an unfair advantage, but I think they should re-word it because the way the law is written gives a lot of grey areas – with the “expected to bowl” part so maybe if they just tightened that up," the Lancashire player added.

Jos Buttler has been the victim of 'Mankading' twice

The Taunton-born player has suffered from 'Mankading' twice in his career. In 2014, Sri Lanka's Sachitra Senanayake 'Mankaded' him in and ODI game. Around five years later, he suffered the same fate in an Indian T20 League 2019 game against Punjab. The then Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin 'Manked' Buttler. In this game, the Rajasthan team was cruising but the wicket proved to be a turning point of the game.
