Indian opener KL Rahul has been denying his wedding rumours, but it appears the wedding will happen soon with Bollywood actor-partner Athiya Shetty. According to rumours, the duo will get hitched after the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. Notably, the Indian vice-captain has asked for ‘personal time’ off from the team’s New Zealand tour
KL Rahul is set to marry his long-time girlfriend after the World Cup ends and the wedding will take place in Maharashtra, according to sources.
“KL has asked for some personal time off. That is why he is not playing in New Zealand. He does not have any injury concerns or a break. He has some family commitments. I am not aware if he is getting married or engaged but yes, he has some personal commitment is what I can tell you,” an Indian Cricket Board official was quoted as saying by InsideSport.
Rahul and Athiya have been dating for a long while and the Bollywood actor was also seen with the cricketer on a few tours of India. Athiya is the daughter of famous Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, who has also confirmed their relationship many times. Currently, KL Rahul is a part of Team India squad which is taking part in the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
Talking about Rahul’s performance on the field, he is having a torrid time in the 20-20 World Cup as he failed to reach double figures in the first three matches of the tournament. However, he finally returned to form in India’s fourth match at Adelaide Oval against Bangladesh which saw him KL score an elegant 32-ball 50 to bounce back in form.
Rahul’s knock was decorated with three fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 156.25. He showcased high-quality shots in a knock full of poise and composure.
All eyes will be once again set on Rahul as India take on Zimbabwe on Sunday at Melbourne Cricket Ground. If Rahul fails to make an impact in the next game, the team management might be tempted to bring Rishabh Pant into the squad to open the innings.
