The problems seem unending in the Kolkata camp just ahead of the Indian T20 League 2023 as they have faced a big injury concern off late. Regular skipper and star middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the entire season of the Indian T20 League due to a lower back injury. Notably, Iyer also had to miss the fourth and last of the four-match Test series followed by the three-match T20I series against Australia.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata camp is facing a conundrum on the appointment of a new skipper for the 2023 edition of the Indian T20 League. Recent media reports have learned that the star pace bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur and Caribbean star Sunil Narine are the two names in contention for leading the team during the upcoming edition.

Meanwhile, a section of the fans is not happy with the news of Sunil Narine or Shardul Thakur reportedly in contention for leading the team. They took to Twitter and expressed their displeasure over the same with different reactions and responses.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Kolkata will start their campaign in the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League with their first match against Punjab; both teams will play this match at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Saturday, the 1st of April.

Here’s a look at the Kolkata squad for the Indian T20 League 2023:

Shreyas Iyer (ruled out), Nitish Rana, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shardul Thakur, Lockie Ferguson, Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, Anukul Roy, Rinku Singh, Narayan Jagadeesan, Vaibhav Arora, Suyash Sharma, David Weise, Kulwant Khejrolia, Mandeep Singh, Litton Das, and Shakib Al Hasan.
