The veteran Australian opener Usman Khawaja attracted the headlines in social media for his memorable century celebration against England in the ongoing first of the five Tests of The Ashes 2023. Khawaja’s century brought Australia back into the game after losing five wickets early in the first innings.

Khawaja completed his 15th Test century in the first innings during the 69th over when the hosts’ skipper Ben Stokes was bowling to the former. It was the time when Australia’s score was 225 runs for the loss of five wickets. Khawaja opened the face of the bat on the fourth ball of the over for boundary and completed his century.

Subsequently, Khawaja’s ecstatic celebration is also making rounds on social media just within minutes of being shared by the official broadcasters Sony Sports Network from their official Twitter handle.

Later on, the cricket fans were divided following this kind of celebration by the Aussie southpaw; they immediately took to Twitter to react with a lot of different responses on this ‘out of the box’ celebration by Usman Khawaja.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Speaking of the position of the match after the end of the second day’s play, Australia had scored 311 runs for the loss of five wickets owing to the brilliant 91-run partnership for the sixth wicket between wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey and the century-star Usman Khawaja. Now, the Aussies are only 82 runs behind England’s first-innings total of 393 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

Stuart Broad and Moeen Ali have scalped two wickets each for England in the second innings so far. Other than these two, the skipper Ben Stokes has also scalped the all-important wicket of the former Australian skipper and the modern-day batting great, Steve Smith.

Earlier in the first innings, former skipper Joe Root smashed an amazing century and scored 118 runs to help England post a total of 393 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the first innings of the ongoing Birmingham Test.
