Guyana Amazon Warriors’ star batter Shai Hope amazed everyone with his stunning century in the 30th match of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League 2023. He played a blistering knock of 106 runs off just 44 balls, with 9 fours and 8 sixes with the willow. On the back of Shai Hope’s century followed by Kevlon Anderson’s 47-run knock, Amazon Warriors posted a big total of 226 runs for the loss of seven wickets after being asked to bat by Barbados Royals.
The veteran all-rounder Jason Holder and pacer Obed McCoy scalped two wickets each for Barbados Royals, alongside one wicket picked by Akeem Jordan in the first innings.
While chasing the target, the Royals got a very shaky start as they lost their 5 wickets only on the score of 49 runs in 8.4 overs. It was wicketkeeper-batter Rivaldo Clarke who could play a struggling knock of 54 runs off 43 balls, with 8 fours.

Eventually, Rovman Powell’s men could score only 138 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the entire 20 overs and lost the match by a big margin of 88 runs. The veteran spinner Imran Tahir scalped three wickets for Royals, alongside 1 and 2 wickets claimed by Dwaine Pretorius and Gudakesh Motie.
Shai Hope won the ‘Player of the Match award for his destructive knock in the first innings for Guyana Amazon Warriors. It was also the last league stage match of the tournament as the stage is all set for the knock-outs, starting from Wednesday, September 20.
St. Lucia Kings will take on Jamaica Tallawahs in the eliminator on Wednesday. On the other hand, Guyana Amazon after winning their last league match, will take on Trinbago Knight Riders in the first qualifier.
The second qualifier of the tournament will be played between the winner of the eliminator and the losing side of the first qualifier, on Saturday, September 23.
