The issue over the hosts of Asia Cup 2023 is likely to be resolved real soon as Pakistan Cricket Board is considering a co-host for the tournament. PCB, who is the current allotted host of the event, is looking to host some matches including of India in the United Arab Emirates as India is relucent to travel to Pakistan. Although the final decision will be taken in the next meeting of the Asian Cricket Council which is scheduled to be held next month.

PCB has locked horns with Indian Cricket Board as later refused to travel to Pakistan due to diplomatic tensions between the two nations. However, PCB Chief Najam Sethi spoke to the reporters on the issue and told them that PCB is looking for every possibility to host the tournament. He also confirmed that the next ACC meeting will take place in presence of the Apex council of Cricket. "What can I say about what happened in the Asian Cricket Council board meeting? There was no resolution," said Najam Sethi to the reporters in Karachi.

Meanwhile, according to a report published by PTI a PCB insider claimed that Pakistan is in talks with UAE to co-host the tournament. UAE will serve as Co-host with some matches and possibly the final if India qualifies. "Sethi made it clear at the ACC meeting that PCB wants to host the event and some of the matches at home," a PCB source told PTI.

‘India agar aankhein Dikha raha…’ says Shahid Afridi on Asia Cup issue

Meanwhile, former Pakistan allrounder Shahid Afridi made serious comments on the issue and said that India has the power to speak for itself. Speaking on Samaa TV, Afridi said, "If anyone is unable to stand on his own feet and then the decision to make such strong calls is not easy. They have to look at plenty of things. India agar aankhe dikha raha hain (If India is threatening) or taking a such strong stance, then they have made themselves that strong, hence they are being able to talk like this, otherwise, they wouldn’t have the courage. In the end, it’s making yourself strong and then take decisions.”

However, fans react to the news of hosting India matches in UAE and calls it a big failure. A fan questioning the logistic and travel issues said, “pakistan aise hi kangal hai ab alag alag flight ka kharcha bhi krna pdega.”
