'Legend promoting another legend' - Fans react as Sachin Tendulkar set to unveil Muttiah Muralitharan's biopic '800' trailer

Fans are overjoyed as batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar is set to unveil the trailer of Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan's biopic.

Former Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan's biopic - '800' - trailer is set to be released in Mumbai on Tuesday, September 5. The star-studded event will also see the presence of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who will unveil the trailer on the grand occasion. One of the greatest batters of all time is promoting one of the greatest bowlers of all time and cricket fans can't keep calm.

Sachin and Muralitharan have given immense on-field moments that will never fade away from the history of the game. While the Sri Lanka legend remains the highest wicket-taker in international cricket with 1347 scalps, the Indian stalwart is the highest run-getter across all formats with 34357 runs. Both of them also hold numerous other records which are currently unbroken and very difficult to break.

Muralitharan ended his Test career with his 800th wicket on July 22, 2010, in a match against India. He is the only bowler to take 800 Test wickets and more than 530 ODI wickets. Written and directed by MS Sripathy, the film is titled '800', a reference to the record number of wickets Muralitharan took in Test cricket. The movie will be released in Telugu, Hindi, English, and Tamil in the month of October.

Madhur Mittal, who won acclaim for his performance in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, will play the role of the right-arm spinner. The character of his wife Madhimalar Ramamurthy will be enacted by South Indian actress Mahima Nambiyar. It is noteworthy that Madhimalar is a Chennai native. On 21 March 2005, Murali got married to the daughter of the late Dr S Ramamurthy of Malar Hospital, Chennai.

In April, the cast of '800' unveiled the first look of the film and recently they shared a teaser that gives a glimpse of the film and what to expect. Produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures and Vivek Rangachari, the film targets millions of cricket fans.

According to reports, the shooting of the biopic took place in India, Sri Lanka and England. It is reported that along with Sachin and Murali, Sri Lankan great Sanath Jayasuriya will also attend the trailer launch event as a special guest.
