Speaking of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), they became the most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) along with Mumbai Indians (MI) by clinching the title for the record fifth time. CSK won the IPL 2023 defeating the 2022 champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in a thrilling final, thanks to final-over heroics from Ravindra Jadeja. Along with the team, CSK skipper MS Dhoni also became the most successful skipper in the history of the tournament joining MI skipper Rohit Sharma. Now, both Dhoni and Rohit have five IPL trophies each to their name as captains.
There are speculations that Dhoni could be in action with CSK for one more season in IPL 2024. Notably, Dhoni has been in action only in the IPL for the last three years so including IPL 2021, IPL 2022, and IPL 2023.
The 42-year-old hung up his boots in international cricket almost three years ago in August 2020. Later on, he also joined team India as a mentor in the T20 World Cup 2021 but unfortunately, the Men in Blue could not live up to the expectations. They got eliminated in the group stage of the tournament after facing defeats at the hands of Pakistan and New Zealand in their first two games of the campaign.
