In a shocking piece of news for cricket fans, star Bangladesh batter Tamim Iqbal has withdrawn his retirement from international cricket just a day after he announced it during a press conference. His sudden announcement came a day after Bangladesh lost to Afghanistan in the first of the three-match ODI series by the DLS method.

But now, Tamim’s immediate decision to withdraw his retirement is also drawing a lot of contrasting reactions on Twitter. Fans are coming up with various opinions and some interesting reactions to this sudden U-turn taken by the star Bangladesh batter.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Earlier while announcing his retirement, Tamim said that it’s the end of the road for him and he is quitting international cricket with immediate effect. He also stated that the first of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan was his last international appearance for Bangladesh.

"This is the end for me. I have given my best. I have tried my best. I am retiring from international cricket at this moment. Yesterday against Afghanistan was my last international game. I am retiring from international cricket effective right now. It was not a sudden decision. I was thinking about the different reasons. I don't want to mention it here. I have spoken to my family members about it. I thought this is the right time for me to retire from international cricket," said Tamim before he broke down into tears during the press conference.

"I want to thank all my teammates, coaches, BCB officials, my family members, and those who have been with me through my long journey. They kept faith in me. I also want to thank the fans. Your love and faith in me inspired me to give my very best for Bangladesh. I want to ask for your prayers for the next chapter of my life. Please keep me in your prayers,” he added later.

Notably, he could be a crucial element for Bangladesh considering the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in India starting later this year. But this decision to retire and withdraw might also have an impact on his relationship with the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
