Former legendary South African speedster Dale Steyn has picked his choice of five pacers to watch out for in the upcoming edition of the ODI World Cup 2023. The former pace great picked Mohammed Siraj from India, alongside star South Africa quick Kagiso Rabada as the first two names in his five picked bowlers.

Apart from these two, Steyn also picked Pakistan’s star pace spearhead, Shaheen Shah Afridi, alongside veteran Kiwi pacer Trent Boult and the ferocious one from England, Mark Wood. Meanwhile, the former proteas great also predicted that the New Zealand veteran, Boult is most likely to end up as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

Later, while assessing the star Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi, Steyn felt that he could be one of the major potential threats for the Indian skipper and the veteran batter, Rohit Sharma. Following that, he kept Trent Boult on number 4 in his list of five pacers.

“Boult swings the ball upfront for New Zealand, big wicket-taker. I think he is going to be the leading wicket-taker in this World Cup,” said Steyn for Boult.

Furthermore, he lauded England’s star speedster Mark Wood for his brilliant and raw pace; Steyn also mentioned the fear factor, which Wood brings when he is there in the attack.

“Mark Wood has extreme pace. I think he’s going to take a lot of wickets for England. His fear factor, his pace alone is going to give him tons of wickets,” he concluded while speaking about Mark Wood.

Notably, the main round of the ODI World Cup 2023 will commence with the tournament opener between the defending champions, England and the runners-up of the last edition, New Zealand.
