Australia is gearing up to take on India for the three-match T20I series starting on September 20. However, ahead of the series, they have lost some of its main players. With only a few days left at the start of the series, they have lost the likes of Mitchel Starc, Mitchell Marsh, and Marcus Stoinis due to injuries. David Warner was already rested for the series.

Talking about the trio's injuries, Starc has sustained a knee injury while Marsh and Stoinis have sustained ankle and side strains respectively. Notably, the injuries are minor in nature which is why the Aussie fans can breathe a sigh of relief. After all, the team would need these players for their 20-20 World Cup title at home next month.

Marsh and Stoinis got injured during the ODI series against Zimbabwe. On the other hand, Starc has been ruled after getting his scans. These players have been replaced by Nathan Ellis, Sean Abbott, and Daniel Sams. After the India series, the Kangaroos are scheduled to play against the West Indies and England ahead of the World Cup. The injured players are expected to join the team for these two series.

After Stoinis' injury, Tim David is expected to make his international debut. He had received his maiden call-up when the squad was announced earlier. On the other hand, Marsh's injury could mean that Steve Smith might bat at number three during the series. Also, Cameron Green could also make his T20I debut. The team would be hoping for the trio to recover as soon as possible. They were part of the 20-20 World Cup winning campaign last year in the UAE. Not to forget, these players are an integral part of the setup.

Australia's updated T20I squad

Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins (vc), Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Aaron Finch (c), Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Daniel Sams, Steve Smith, Matthew Wade, Adam Zampa.
