Mithali Raj has regained her spot in the top 5 of the ICC ODI rankings after her half-century in the first match against England. The senior player has progressed three slots to grab fifth place with 725 rating points. Mithali has returned to the top five for the first time since October 2019. She played a 72-run innings off 108 deliveries in the first ODI. However, team India lost the game by 8 wickets. Her knock helped the visitors after a terrible start. India was reduced to 27 for 2 within the first ten overs. The Indian team managed to set England a target of only 202 runs which wasn’t challenging enough for the hosts.
Indian captain Mithali Raj has also completed 22 years of playing One Day International cricket. This is most by any female cricketer in the world. The senior cricketer added another feather to her illustrious cap on Sunday (June 27) when she will lead India against England in the first ODI in Bristol. Mithali Raj has become the first-ever female player and second overall after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to have completed 22 years in ODI format. Mithali has played 215 ODIs so far. In those, she has scored 7170 runs with 7 centuries. She has also slammed 56 half-centuries in ODIs.

Meanwhile, youngster Shafali Verma has entered the ODI rankings. She is currently in 120th place after scoring a 14-ball 15 on debut. On the other hand, Indian all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar has re-entered in 97th spot among batters and 88th among bowlers.
England opener Tammy Beaumont has consolidated her top spot after her player of the match effort. She gained 26 rating points to reach 791 after her unbeaten 87. English cricketer Natalie Sciver advances from ninth to the eighth position in the latest women’s ranking update.
Talking about the bowlers, fast bowler Anya Shrubsole has jumped three places to eighth after claiming two wickets in the match. Left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone has also gained four slots to reach 10th position with a haul of three for 40. Kate Cross has also moved up three spots to 25th.
