India captain Mithali Raj has now become the highest run-scorer across all the formats of the game in women's cricket. The veteran cricketer achieved the milestone during India women's four-wicket victory against England women in the third and final ODI in Worcester. The Indian cricket team chased 220 runs in a truncated 47-over match and also secured victory with three balls to spare. Mithali Raj scored an unbeaten knock of 75, off just 86 deliveries. She was declared the Player of the Match. Mithali Raj has also completed 6000 runs in international cricket as captain. The Indian skipper is only the second woman to reach the milestone after Charlotte Edwards (6728).

With this achievement, Mithali Raj became the world's most prolific cricketer in women's internationals. The 38-year-old has now amassed 10337 runs in all the formats. Earlier in March 2021, Mithali Raj became the second woman cricketer to accomplish 10000 runs in international cricket. Mithali Raj also holds the record for the most-capped Player in the history of Women's Cricket. In 2020, she was named in the ICC ODI Team of the decade. The 38-year-old has been the flagbearer of Indian women's cricket. She also led the Indian team to the final of the Women's World Cup in 2017.
Recently, Mithali Raj also completed 22 years of playing One Day International cricket. This is most by any female cricketer in the world. The senior cricketer added another feather to her illustrious cap on Sunday (June 27) when she will lead India against England in the first ODI in Bristol. Mithali Raj has become the first-ever female Player and second overall after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to have completed 22 years in ODI format. Mithali has played 217 ODIs so far. In those, she has scored 7304 runs with 7 centuries. She has also slammed 58 half-centuries in ODIs.
Meanwhile, Mithali Raj is going to be nominated by BCCI for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna. She has already won the Arjuna in 2003 and was also conferred the Padma Shri in 2015.
