During the national anthem before the first T20I match against West Indies, Indian captain Hardik Pandya was captured on camera appearing emotional while rubbing his eyes. This clip of the stand-in Indian skipper has gone viral on the internet.

It's worth noting that there have been instances where Indian players have become emotional during the national anthem before matches. Even the usual captain, Rohit Sharma, was seen getting carried away during the national anthem before the T20 World Cup 2022 match against Pakistan.

India fell short in First T20I against West Indies

Speaking of the action of the first T20I of the three-match series between West Indies and India, the Windies skipper Rovman Powell won the flip of the coin and decided to bat first. The Caribbean side posted a total of 149 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Skipper Powell and wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran played the crucial knocks of 48 and 41 runs, respectively. Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal scalped two wickets each for India, alongside one each claimed by Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav.

While chasing the target, the lower-middle order collapsed drastically as they lost wickets at regular intervals. From the score of 113 runs for the loss of four wickets, the Men in Blue came down to 140 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Eventually, Pandya’s men couldn’t cross the line and West Indies won the match by four runs to register a lead of 1-0 in the five-match T20I series.
