Chennai franchise of the Indian T20 League are preparing for the mini-auction on 23 December 2022 in Kochi. Already they submitted their final list of retained and released players list to the Board on 15 November. Now, MS Dhoni will look to add more firepower to the squad ahead of the next season.
Last season, Chennai finished in the ninth spot in the table with eight points from 14 matches. Meanwhile, Sam Curran will be available for the auction and he will be a player for whom franchises will get into a bidding war. So, now reports have come out that MS Dhoni has instructed Chennai team management to buy him at any cost.

Sam Curran won the player of the tournament award in the 20-20 World Cup 2022
According to recent reports, MS Dhoni has already instructed Chennai team management to go big on the England star all-rounder. Sam Curran’s contributions were instrumental which helped England to win the 20-20 World Cup 2022 title. He won the player of the tournament award as Curran picked 13 wickets in six matches, at an economy of 6.52.
In the final against Pakistan, Curran took three wickets for 12 runs in his four overs. He already played for the Chennai franchise in two seasons; 2020 and 2021. So, Chennai fans will be happy to see him back in the yellow jersey. Meanwhile, Dwayne Bravo took retirement from this league.
So, the former Chennai player, Robin Uthappa said that the franchise need to get a player to replace him. While being a part of JioCinema’s Indian T20 League Player Auction Expert Panel, he said: “Chennai they need an all-rounder to replace Dwayne Bravo and they need a solid India middle-order batter as a backup for the players that they already have. In that, I think they will look for the likes of Sam Curran because he has already played for Chennai in the past, he’s done well for them and has contributed to their success so they will definitely try and go for.”
