The Indian Test veteran Cheteshwar Pujara will be donning the Test cap for the 100th time in Tests for India; when he will be entering into the ground for the Delhi fixture against Australia. The Rajkot-based specialist is playing for India for more than 12 years since his Debut in Bengaluru Test against Australia back in the year 2010.

Recently, Pujara spoke to journalists ahead of the second of the four-match Test series against Australia. During this interaction, the 35-year-old recalled his favorite knock of the Test career alongside his experiences with the different bowlers of the different teams throughout the cricketing globe.

“My favorite knock has been my debut innings where I scored 72. It was the most important knock in my career. 2017 Bangalore (97 vs AUS), my first overseas hundred in South Africa. 124 at Adelaide and the Gabba one,” said Pujara to journalists while talking about his favorite individual knocks so far in the Test career.

Meanwhile, he also talked about the techniques and tactics to stay composed amidst the situation when one is under the scanner and facing hard scrutiny.

“Aswhin recently spoke about me being stubborn. But for me, it is sticking to your method and having the discipline to do well in test cricket. I do yoga, meditation, work on my fitness, detach yourself from what is being spoken about you on social media TV, even if it is positive things, so I try and do all that,” he added later.

“Patience does not come on its own, need mental strength for that, preparation is key, I scored runs at junior cricket, age group cricket. It requires hard work Over a period of time and I think when you focus on your game, eventually, you will succeed.”

Subsequently, Pujara also opened up on the psyche of not registering for the Indian T20 League 2022 last year. He said that it was the county that he wanted to focus on and prepare himself for the one-off remaining red-ball fixture against England last year.

“Conscious decision to not have my name in Indian T20 League last year, I wanted to play county to prepare for the one-off test in England,” concluded the veteran of 99 Tests so far.
