Team India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and his wife sports presenter Sanjana Gansean have been blessed with a baby boy. The veteran fast bowler announced the new addition to their family by posting a heartwarming message on his social media on Monday, September 4, along with a beautiful picture of the couple holding hands with their first child.

Bumrah, who returned after injury is part of India's 17-member squad for the 2023 Asia Cup. However, after the Men in Blue's opening game against arch-rivals Pakistan on 2 September, he had flown back home from Sri Lanka. It was reported that Bumrah will be absent for the next group match against Nepal (September 4) due to 'personal reasons'. However, the 29-year-old himself now confirmed that he returned home to welcome his new son 'Angad Jasprit Bumrah'.

"Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah into the world. We are over the moon and can’t wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it," Bumrah wrote in a post shared on Twitter.

Mohammed Shami to replace Bumrah in the match against Nepal

Bumrah made his much-awaited return to international cricket after almost 11 months in the three-match series against Ireland in August. He regained his fitness ahead of the 2023 Asia Cup to lead the Indian pace attack but he could not get to bowl in the first match as rain played spoilsport in the second innings between India and Pakistan.

Rohit Sharma and Co need to win their next match against Nepal to qualify for the Super 4 stage. In Bumrah's absence, India are likely to bring back Mohammed Shami into the lineup. Shardul Thakur was picked over Shami in the opening match to give the team more batting depth. Bumrah is confirmed to return to the set-up in the next round, while senior batter KL Rahul will also reportedly join the camp.
