India and South Africa are currently locking horns with each other in the third and final T20I of the series at Holkar Cricket Stadium. Given the fact that India have already won the series, the team management were expected to make at least a couple of changes in the playing XI for the dead rubber.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Rohit Sharma updated the fans on India’s playing XI for the final game. Senior batters namely Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have been rested. However, the one which took everyone by surprise was Arshdeep Singh’s absence from the playing XI.
Indian captain, Rohit Sharma revealed at the toss that the left-arm pacer has some issues with the back but also added that it’s not too serious.
"We're going to field first. It's a very high scoring ground, I feel the pitch won't change a lot so nice to know what target is in front of us. Three changes for us, Rohit and KL are out, and Arshdeep misses out for some issues with his back. It is precautiounary, nothing serious. We've got Shreyas Iyer, Umesh Yadav and Siraj in. We want to keep challenging ourselves, keep improving and keep batting the same way," Rohit Sharma said.
With Jasprit Bumrah already being ruled out of the World Cup 2022, Arshdeep Singh’s injury could be another major worry for the team. The fans have expressed their concern on the same on Twitter. Here’s a look at some of the notable reactions:
