Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was given out lbw in the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 9. The incident happened on the last ball of the fifth over of the second innings bowled by Wandindu Hasaranga. In that over, the latter took the wicket of Ishan Kishan already. Meanwhile, Sharma went down the track and was hit on the pads.

He was given not out by the umpires as he was down the track beyond three meters. However, in the replays and Hawkeye, the ball was crashing the stumps without considering the three-meter rule. After being given out, the two-time World Championship winner for India shook his head in disbelief and waited outside of the boundary line.

“Where the evidence shows that the ball was hitting, the point of first interception was in line, and the ball pitched in line or outside off, but that: the point of first interception was 300cm or more from the stump, or the point of first interception was more than 250cm but less than 300cm from the stumps and the distance between the point of pitching and the point of first interception was less than 40cm, the on-field decision shall stand (that is, Not out),” the playing conditions in the IPL says

Rohit Sharma has managed only one-fifty in the ongoing IPL 2023

Meanwhile, the right-hander has scored only one fifty in the ongoing IPL 2023. Apart from this, his batting form has been a concern for the team. However, despite this, the team's middle order has been rescuing the team across the tournament. The same thing happened in the game between MI and RCB. Chasing 200 runs to win, the likes of Kishan (42), and fifties from Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera helped the team reach the target in 16.3 overs.
