Shoaib Akhtar, the Pakistani great, announced his biographical film, ‘Rawalpindi Express’ last year and the film was supposed to be released in the approaching months. However, much to the dreariness of the fans, the star pacer announced his withdrawal from the project on January 21, Saturday, citing personal reasons.
Akhtar took to Twitter to convey the sad news, leaving millions of his followers disheartened, with almost all of them standing by him saying that they would love him irrespective of his decision. The former Pakistani star claimed that he tried to prevent the withdrawal and tie things together, adding that he had to take the tough decision as things did not work out as planned.
Akhtar said that he completed all of the legal protocols to withdraw from the project and said that he would take legal action against the makers if they would carry on with the project or take his name without his consent in the coming days.
Definitely, it was a dream project: Shoaib Akhtar
Akhtar said that it was his dream project and cited contractual violations as reasons behind his decision to disassociate from the project. It remains to be seen if his biographical film would make a comeback with a new team in the coming days, although fans want him to think twice before coming up with a decision next.
“Very sadly, I would like to inform all of you that after careful consideration of months, I have decided to disassociate myself from the film "Rawalpindi Express" & its makers by terminating the agreement through my management & legal team. Definitely, it was a dream project, and I tried a lot to prevent and stay in the boat, but unfortunately, things were not going well,” Akhtar wrote on his Twitter account.
“Failute to resolve disagreements amicably and constant contractual violations finally resulted in us to cut ties with them. Therefore, I have left the project after complying all legal protocols of revoking the rights to the story of my life. Severe legal action will be taken if the makers continue to make biography film and use my name or life story events in any way,” his Tweet read further.
