Pakistan team are busy preparing for their first game of this year’s 20-20 World Cup in Australia. In the first match only, they will take on India in Melbourne on 23 October 2022. However, they came to Australia after winning a T20I tri-series victory over New Zealand and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, they also faced a defeat against England in the warm-up match in Brisbane.

However, the Men in Green will look to do well this time around after losing in the semi-final in the last edition. Now, the former Pakistani player, Ahmed Shehzad made a bold claim regarding his team ahead of the World Cup.

Speaking of the video, Ahmed Shehzad was seen in a live show from a show in Pakistan. There, he was talking about the World Cup team of Pakistan. Ahmed Shehzad said: “As a Pakistani, our duty is to support the team in the World Cup.” He also added that scrutiny will be done after the big tournament only.  

Ahmed Shehzad also claimed: “Whatever plan the team are having, it should work. But, if it does not work, then, proper scrutiny should be done regarding issues. But, now, our work is to support the team fully.” Then, the anchor said that after the World Cup loss in 2015, Waqar Younis put the blame on you and Umar Akmal. “So, that was a scrutiny or what?” he added.

In response to that, Ahmed Shehzad said: “Pakistan Cricket will not reach that level until the scapegoat game continues.” The anchor also seemed to support him with a cheeky smile. 

Speaking of Ahmed Shehzad, he last played for Pakistan on 7 October 2019 in a T20I match. After that, he got involved in many controversies which prevented him to make a comeback to the team. Speaking of Pakistan, on 19 October 2022, they took on Afghanistan. But, only one inning happened as the match got canceled due to rain.
