'Karachi ka Lahore wala haal hi hay' - Fans react as Karachi Kings lose to Multan Sultans by 20 runs, face third consecutive defeat in PSL 2024

Multan Sultans have continued their winning run in the tournament with the 6th win to their name in the 7th match, qualifying for the next stage.

Karachi Kings faced another embarrassing defeat at their home ground National Stadium in Karachi. Multan Sultans defeated the hosts by runs to continue their dominant run in the tournament, registering the 6th win in the 7th match to stay in the top spot of the points table of the tournament.

The visiting skipper Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to bat first at the batter’s friendly turf of the National Stadium in Karachi. Batting first, the Sultans posted a good total of 189 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Star top-order batter Usman Khan smashed a sensational century, scoring 106 runs off just 59 balls, with 10 fours and 5 sixes. It is also his second century in the 13th innings of his PSL career.

Usman Khan shines again for Multan Sultans

Besides Usman, skipper and opener, Mohammad Rizwan also played a crucial half-century knock of 58 runs off 44 balls, with 5 fours. Usman and Rizwan also stitched an outstanding partnership of 148 runs for the second wicket after the Sultans lost their first wicket just at the score of 16 runs.  Hasan Ali and Blessing Muzarabani were the only wicket takers for Karachi, scalping 1 and 2 wickets, respectively.

While chasing the target, only the skipper Shan Masood and the veteran batter Shoaib Malik could play the knocks of 36 and 38 runs, respectively for the Karachi Kings. However, they failed to chase down the target as they were restricted to a total of 169 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the entire 20 overs. Usama Mir scalped 2 wickets for Multan Sultans, alongside one wicket each picked by all other bowlers except for Faisal Akram.

Eventually, Multan Sultans won the match by 20 runs to continue their dominance in the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League. Star top-order batter Usman Khan won the ‘Player of the Match award for his sensational and match-defining knock in Multan’s favour.
