'It's never-ending for Karachi' - Fans react as Multan Sultans beat Karachi Kings by 55 runs to register their first win in PSL 2024

Multan Sultans under the captaincy of star Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan have started their PSL 2024 campaign with a comfortable win.

Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings locked horns in the third match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024. Both teams played this match at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on Sunday, February 18. The visiting skipper Shan Masood won the toss and asked Multan to bat first.

Batting first, Mohammad Rizwan’s men posted a big total of 185 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Reeza Hendricks played a blistering knock of 79 runs off just 54 balls, with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Besides him, Dawid Malan and Khushdil Shah also played the knocks of 52 and 28 runs, respectively.

Mir Hamza and Shoaib Malik scalped one wicket each for Karachi Kings in the first innings amidst all the bowlers being very expensive.

Karachi Kings failed to survive against Multan's bowling attack

While chasing the target, Karachi Kings couldn’t cross the line and they could score only 130 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the entire 20 overs. It was only the veteran batter Shoaib Malik who played a well-fought knock of 53 runs off 35 balls, with 5 fours and 2 sixes. However, it went in vain as none of the other batters were seen batting up to the requirements of the run-chase for the Kings.

Mohammad Ali scalped 3 wickets for Multan, alongside two wickets each picked by David Willey and Abbas Afridi. Besides these three, spinner Usama Mir also bagged one wicket.

Eventually, Multan Sultans won the match by 55 runs to start their PSL 2024 campaign on a winning note. Reeza Hendricks won the ‘Player of the Match award for his brilliant and match-defining contribution in favour of Multan.

Now, Multan Sultans will take on Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United in their next match and the 5th game of the ongoing PSL 2024. The match will be played at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on Tuesday, February 20.
