'Pal do pal ka edit time for Sanju' - Fans react to reports suggesting potential changes in ODI team for Asia Cup 2023

The Indian squad for the 2023 Asia Cup is all set to be announced soon. After India’s tour of the West Indies, a lot of questions were raised based on the form of some of the key batters in the lineup. Keeping that in mind, the squad for the big tournament will be selected by the selection committee. There might be some changes in the Indian squad, taking into consideration the performances of players on the tour of the West Indies.  

According to the reports, the biggest news is that Sanju Samson, who has been the best wicketkeeper batter of India in the last year, will be dropped from the Asia Cup squad due to his consistency. The middle-order batter has good numbers in ODIs. Even against West Indies, the aggressive batter batted well. But due to his bad performances in T20Is, he might be removed from ODIs.  

This might be one of the most absurd reasons to remove a player from the team. On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav is likely to continue in the team due to his performances in T20Is and abilities to change games on his day. This might be one of the most absurd reasons to include a player from the team. Some of the injured players might make their comeback during the Asia Cup.  

Fitness updates on KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer, who was injured in March, is reportedly yet to be fully fit for the Asia Cup. On the other hand, KL Rahul, who sustained an injury while playing an IPL game in 2023 for Lucknow Super Giants is reportedly fit. The two batters were given a long run after the 2019 ODI World Cup at number 4 and number 5, respectively.   

If they are available and fit for selection, they are likely to be selected in the squad. According to reports, KL Rahul might make it to the squad as the wicketkeeper and would don the gloves as well. On the 20th of August, the Indian squad for Asia Cup is likely to be announced.
