According to reports, Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell might not be fit to play before the start of the Cricket World Cup in India next month. They all have been named in the provisional 15-man squad for the tournament that will be finalized later this month. The players are currently out from the current limited-overs tour of South Africa.

Captain Cummins is recovering from a fractured hand sustained in the recent Ashes series in England, while Smith has a wrist injury, Maxwell has an ankle injury, and Starc is suffering from groin problems and is also under injury clouds. 8 of the 15 players in the provisional squad also featured in the 2019 tournament. The five-time champions will definitely hope that their important players come back before the World Cup.
