The five-time champions Mumbai Indians and the defending champions Gujarat Titans locked horns in the second qualifier in the second qualifier of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. The visitorsโ€™ skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first on the moist surface of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Batting first, the Titans went on to aggregate a massive total of 233 runs for the loss of three wickets in the first innings of this all-important clash.

Later on, Rohit Sharmaโ€™s men failed to chase down the target and lost the match by a margin of 62 runs scoring 171 runs for the loss of all wickets in 18.2 overs. The fans were also elated and overjoyed after this win of Gujarat Titans and their entry into the final of the Indian Premier League 2023 for the second consecutive time just after their debut in 2022 with a historic title win.

Talking about the entire action of the match, the star GT opener Shubman Gill scored a blistering century and scored 129 runs off just 60 balls with seven fours and 10 sixes to his name. Other than him, the number three batter Sai Sudharsan also played a crucial knock of 43 runs with five boundaries and a six with the wood.

Akash Madhwal and Piyush Chawla scalped one wicket each for the Mumbai Indians in the first innings of the match.

While chasing the target, the Mumbai Indians could score only 171 runs for the loss of all wickets in 18.2 overs and failed to cross the line. Suryakumar Yadav played a struggling knock of 61 runs off just 38 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes on his credit. Other than him, it was Tilak Varma who amazed everyone with his swashbuckling knock of 43 runs off just 14 balls with five boundaries and three sixes.

Eventually, Gujarat Titans won the match by 62 runs and they have now entered the final of the tournament; they will face Chennai Super Kings in the summit clash on Sunday, the 28th of May from 7.30 PM at the Narendra Modi Stadium at Ahmedabad.

The veteran pacer Mohit Sharma claimed an amazing and sensational five-wicket haul; he scalped five wickets at the cost of only 10 runs in 2.2 overs. Other than him, Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan also scalped two wickets each alongside one wicket claimed by Josh Little.
