In a recent piece of news, the Indian Cricket Board has come up with the latest update on the back spasm of the star Indian batter Shreyas Iyer, who sustained the injury just before the start of the last super-4 match against the arch-rivals Pakistan. Due to the last-moment injury hit, Iyer had to miss the high-octane clash and he was replaced by the star wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul who also made his comeback after a long injury that he sustained during the Indian Premier League 2023 earlier this year.
Now, the latest update from the Indian Cricket Board states that Iyer is set to miss one more super-4 match of India, against Sri Lanka. He didn’t travel with the rest of the team to the stadium on the match day as he is yet to recover completely from the back spasm.
“UPDATE - Shreyas Iyer is feeling better but is yet to fully recover from a back spasm. He has been advised rest by the BCCI Medical Team and has not travelled with the team to the stadium today for India's Super 4 match against Sri Lanka,” read the update posted by the Indian Cricket Board from their official X handle.

Speaking of Iyer’s replacement in the last match, KL Rahul, the latter impressed everyone with his amazing comeback as he scored his career’s 6th ODI century. He scored 111 runs off 106 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes.
Notably, both KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are a part of the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, in India, starting from October 5. Apart from that, the Indian management would have heaved a sigh of relief as KL Rahul is looking in good touch just ahead of the marquee international tournament; he could solve the prolonged number 4 concern of Team India in the batting lineup. Apart from that, the road to playing XI could be quite a bit hard for Shreyas Iyer owing to the brilliant form of Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul.
Here's how fans reacted to the news of Shreyas Iyer missing the super-4 match against Sri Lanka:

If Ishan don't perform well today.... Then he may be dropped in the next match if Shreyas Iyer become fit 👍👍
