Tennis star, Roger Federer is considered one of the legends of the sport. He has left fans in awe of his ‘single-handed back hand’ on many occasions. Federer has had many successful moments on the court in a career spanning over two decades. The 40-year-old veteran has 20 Grand Slam titles, including eight Wimbledon triumphs in his illustrious career. He was last seen in action in Wimbledon last year where he lost to Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-final stage, leaving his fans in eternal agony.

The Swiss Tennis ace missed out on Wimbledon this year due to his prolonged struggle with a knee injury. Federer is going through the worst phase of his career as he’s been pushed out of the top 1000 due to his absence from the sport for over a year. He left his fans aghast as he stated in one of his recent interviews that he doesn’t need Tennis anymore and is happy with the little things in his life.

“I am a winner lover, but if you are not competitive anymore, then it’s better to stop. I don’t think I need the Tennis. I am happy with the little things, like when my son does something right and when my daughter comes home with a good grade,” Federer was quoted as telling Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad by Eurosport.

He further claimed that Tennis is part of his life but not his entire identity.

“I want to be and remain successful, and put a lot of energy into the business, probably give more than I should sometimes, but that can be achieved without sports. I know a professional career can’t last forever and that’s okay,” Federer continued.

The legendary Tennis player confessed that he felt strange after not being able to play Wimbledon this year and watching it on TV. “As I have been there every time since 1998. But I have been on the road for so long that it was nice to experience a little more peace and to be in one place more often, which already happened due to the coronavirus,” he added.
