Rohit Sharma has been in sublime form in International cricket for the past few years. The batter is hailed as one of the best openers in all three formats in International cricket. Sharma has also become the full-time Indian captain in all three formats of the game this year. The stylish opener returned to the team for the ongoing T20I series against West Indies after being rested for the ODI series of the tour.

He announced his arrival in style in the first T20I on Friday as he scored a blistering 64 off 44 balls, smashing seven fours and two monstrous sixes during his innings. The Indian team will be hoping for another brilliant knock from their captain in the second T20I tonight.

Rohit became the highest run-scorer in the T20 internationals during his knock in the first game as he surpassed New Zealand’s, Martin Guptill. He also broke the record of scoring the most half centuries in T20I cricket as he reached his 27th fifty on Friday, surpassing his teammate Virat Kohli.

Rohit is closing in on another record. He needs just four more sixes to surpass Shahid Afridi in the list of most sixes in International cricket. Explosive opener, Chris Gayle leads the list with 553 sixes, followed by Afridi (476) and Rohit (473*) in the second and third spot, respectively.

The Indian captain will surely surpass this record if he gets going in the second T20I later tonight. The fans are eagerly waiting for the two teams to clash but the match has been postponed due to logistical issues. West Indies cricket released an official statement informing about the delayed start of the game. The match was scheduled to begin at 10:00 pm but as per the latest reports, the start has been further delayed by another hour.

Apart from his individual records, Rohit is on the brink of achieving another record as the captain if he manages to whitewash West Indies 5-0 in the T20 series. The Indian Captain will surpass his team-mate Virat Kohli, in terms of wins as a captain in T2OIs. The Mumbai batter has led the team to 27 victories so far at a win percentage of 84 percent, while Kohli has 30 wins under his belt at a win percentage of 64.
