The poor form of India’s star batter Virat Kohli has been the major talking point in the cricketing fraternity in the past few months. The former Indian captain is currently looking like a shadow of his own self as he’s miserably failing to score even 30s and 40s with the bat.

Kohli’s bad form has attracted comments from many former cricketers. While many are asking to bench him, the others are advising him to take some time off the game and talk to some senior players.

Jumping onto the bandwagon, former Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi has also given a statement on Kohli’s batting recently. On being asked about Kohli’s lean patch, Afridi gave a funny response. The former all-rounder simply replied why would Kohli need his advice. The All rounder feels that the batter has set the standards so high for himself, at times it gets tough to maintain them.

“Why would he care about my advice? He has to perform because the expectations from him are so high. And for a very long time, there has been no performance from him according to the standards that he has set for himself,” Afridi said while talking to the reporters in a video posted by Sports Paktv.

Kohli had a terrible outing in the recent tour of England where he failed to pass the score of 20 in the six innings he played on the tour. He featured in the only Test, two T20Is and two ODIs on the tour.

Kohli’s dismal show has raised doubts over his place in the team for the upcoming 20-20 world cup which is less than three months away. The star batter has been rested by the Indian cricket board for the tour of the West Indies.

As per some reports, the 33-year-old might make a return to the team for the tour of Zimbabwe to help him boost his confidence by getting some runs under his belt. The wait for Kohli’s 71st century is getting longer and longer for his fans as the batter has failed to reach the three-figure mark since November 2019.
