There’s been probably no press conference for Indian Rohit Sharma for the last year, in which he hasn’t been asked about the lean patch of former skipper and his teammate, Virat Kohli. Rohit faced a similar question one more time in the press conference ahead of the first ODI of the three-match series against West Indies.
But this time Rohit Sharma didn’t come slow on the journalist who asked this question on Kohli’s lean patch and he came up with a blunt response. He said that he has answered the same question on multiple occasions and still people keep asking this kind of question.
“I've answered this question a lot of times. All the outside talk, who scored how many, took how many wickets... people who say such things don't know what happens inside. For us, what happens inside stays inside. We prefer that. For us, the most important is to win matches, not who's talking about what. It doesn't matter to us,” said Rohit Sharma in the press conference.
“Our priority is the three ODI matches right now, we're focussing on that,” he added later.
Notably, India and West Indies will take on each other in the first ODI of the three-match ODI series at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown in Barbados today evening from 7.30 PM.
Rohit Sharma clears the air on Jasprit Bumrah's comeback
Apart from his statement on Kohli, Rohit also cleared the air on Burmah’s comeback to international cricket. Rohit said that it can’t be confirmed about Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for the three-match T20I series against India.
“The amount of experience he (Bumrah) brings is very important. Right now, he’s coming from a serious injury and I’ve no idea if he’ll travel to Ireland because the team hasn’t been announced yet,” said Rohit on being asked about Bumrah.
“If he gets to play then it’s well and we hope he plays before the World Cup. When a player returns from a serious injury, match fitness, match feeling are some key components, which are missing. We’ll see what has been planned and everything depends on his recovery. We are in constant touch with the NCA and things look positive at the moment,” he added later.
