In 2013, India A won the maiden edition of the competition. In the fifth edition of the continental event, it is placed in Group B of the round-robin league stage alongside UAE A, Pakistan A, and Nepal. India A, managed by Yash Dhull, will begin their adventure in the Emerging Asia Cup 2023 with their first Group B match against UAE-A.

The Indian team comprises some of the most promising young cricketers, like Abhishek Sharma, Harshit Rana, Dhruv Jurel, and Prabhsimran Singh. The Indian squad is in Group B with UAE A, Pakistan A, and Nepal A, and the latter two will face off in the second game of the day.

Match Report

India got off to a rough start in Colombo, chasing a poor target, as both openers fell cheaply. The openers were Sai Sudarshan and Abhishek Sharma. But neither of these batters could achieve anything exceptional. Sudarshan went out after scoring 8 runs in 8 balls. Abhishek was dismissed after scoring 19 runs.

Dhull, who came in at number four, rebuilt the innings with an unbroken 138-run third-wicket stand with Nikin Jose, who remained unbeaten on 41. Dhull said, "Special knock for me. But considering we lost two wickets quickly we came back well. Decided to familiarize myself with the wicket and take some time. Iโ€™d like to get set and then go aggressive. Thatโ€™s my game. I believe our bowlers did well, bowled in the right areas. Akash Singh is fit, just the humidity that got to him and caused cramps."

The UAE squad scored 175 runs in 50 overs, losing 9 wickets, with opener Aryansh Sharma scoring 38 runs in 42 balls. Aryansh hit seven fours. Valthapa Chidambaram, the captain, scored 46 runs in 107 balls. They were unable to establish a single border. In 88 balls, Mohammad Farajuddin scored 35 runs.

Aside from them, no player could stay at the crease for an extended period of time. Nitish Reddy bowled 5 overs for 32 runs and claimed 2 wickets. Manav Suthar bowled 10 overs for 28 runs and grabbed 2 wickets. In 4.3 overs, Akash Singh claimed one wicket for 10 runs. Harshit Rana was the standout for the India bowlers, with 4/41 in nine overs. He had taken wickets at the start and end of the UAE A batting innings.
