Team India are currently busy playing the series opener in Chattogram of the two-match Test series. In order to get qualified for the final of the World Test Championship, this series is going to be a crucial one for team India. Rohit Sharma got injured in the ODI series and thus, he missed this match. In his absence, KL Rahul was the captain and he opted to bat first after winning the toss.

However, all eyes were on Cheteshwar Pujara who failed to score big in recent Test matches for the Men in Blue. He has been the pillar in the middle-order for team India in the longest format of the game. So, fans were expecting to see him score big runs in this match. His form will be crucial for them ahead of the important home Test series against the Aussies.

Speaking about the match, team India got bundled out for 404 runs in 133.5 overs in the first innings. Iyer got out on 86 runs off 192 balls, including 10 fours. Pujara scored a vital 90 runs off 203 balls, including 11 fours. Both of them put up a solid partnership of 149 runs to settle the ship for the Men in Blue. However, in reply, the home side got bundled out for 150 runs in 55.5 overs. Kuldeep Yadav picked up five wickets for 40 runs in 16 overs. Along with him, Mohammed Siraj also grabbed three wickets. Hence, India got a lead of 254 runs.

Still, Rahul decided to bat again, So, in the second innings, Cheteshwar Pujara did not disappoint his fans as he scored 102* runs off 130 balls, including 13 fours. He batted at a strike rate of 78.46 and it was his fastest Test hundred. Along with him, Shubman Gill also scored 110 runs off 152 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes. Finally, team India declared the innings after scoring 258 runs for two wickets. Thus, they set a target of 513 runs for the Bangla Tigers in this match.
