The Indian cricket team on Friday took on Bangladesh at Colombo in the final game of the Super-Four stage. The match was a dress rehearsal for the Indian team as they were already in the finals. Sri Lanka after their pulsating win over Pakistan became the other team to reach the Asia Cup final.

The Indian team made five changes to the squad as they gave their debut to Tilak Varma. The youngster had been impressing one and all in the IPL with the bat. The left-hander had made an impressive debut in the T20 format during the tour of West Indies recently. One of the biggest calls was that Virat Kohli was rested for the game.

India makes five changes to the team

Rohit Sharma won the toss and put Bangladesh into bat first. Virat Kohli was rested from the game in a bid to keep him fresh for the final on Sunday. Surya Kumar Yadav who celebrated his 33rd birthday on Thursday came into the team. Hardik Pandya too was given a rest as Tilak Varma replaced him and made his ODI debut.

Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Siraj were also rested on Friday. The trio were replaced by Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Shami, and Prasidh Krishna. The tall fast bowler from Karnataka was playing a game of ODI cricket after over one year.

India made a good start to the game as they dismissed four Bangladeshi batters by the 14th over. Litton Das was the first to go when Mohammad Shami breached his defense to bowl him out for a duck. Tanzid Hasan had scored 13 off 12 balls with 3 fours and was looking dangerous. Shardul Thakur flattened his off stump to give India their 2nd wicket.

Shardul Thakur struck again when he had Anamul Haque going for a pull-shot. The batter mistimed the ball as KL Rahul took an easy catch. Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan then stuck around to add 31 runs for the 4th wicket. Axar Patel then struck in his first over when he had Mehidy Hasan caught by Rohit Sharma at slip for 13. Bangladesh at that stage was reeling at 59/4 from 14 overs.
