Former England skipper Eoin Morgan has advocated for India as the favourites to win the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in their own backyard. Notably, the marquee international tournament will be played in India after 12 years since 2011, when the hosts clinched the title after defeating Sri Lanka in the final.

Meanwhile, the former World Cup-winning England skipper Eoin Morgan believes that India will have a ‘golden opportunity’ to win the world cup in their home conditions. Morgan was in an interview with WION where he spoke about all the possibilities for different teams in the upcoming 13^th edition of the ODI World Cup.

“The enthusiasm and passion displayed by Indian fans are unparalleled, which makes this special. The team (India) has formidable skills, and can, indeed, be strong contenders in the upcoming World Cup. They also need to engage with and learn from the experiences of those who participated in the 2011 World Cup,” said Morgan during the interview with WION.

“Home advantage is quite a key thing, but if you were to advise anything, you would say engage with the people who were there and were leaders throughout that journey and pick their brain. The like of Virat Kohli played in that team and have first-hand experience of what it is like, it is going to be a hell of a tournament that I am looking forward to,” said Morgan.

Apart from this, Morgan also spoke about the veteran players of various teams who might hang their boots in international cricket after the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023.

“For some, the World Cup will be the stage to announce their arrival at the grandest level, while for others, it might mark the end of illustrious careers,” he added upon being asked about the veteran players who are nearing the end of their respective glorious cricketing careers.

I don't think India will be fev. Somehow India can manage to reach semis but it's tough to enter final and win with this type of management. Players which are actually going to play in WC are not playing. Bumhrah,KL,Rohit,Virat not getting many ODI matches to play.
