In a recent piece of news, the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) has offered a central contract to the veteran pacer and the modern-day bowling great, James Anderson. Following that, it looks all set that fans will be watching the legendary England pacer in the 23rd year of his career for England. The central contracts offered by England Cricket has also 20 multi-year deals.

“Anderson, 41, understood have been offered a one-year deal. Around 26 players have been offered central contacts in a tweaked system, with approximately 20 of them more than year long in an attempt to tie players down for England and lessen the threat posed to the franchise circuit,” reads a report in Telegraph.

James Anderson nearing a few big milestones

Notably. Anderson made his international debut almost more than two decades back in the year 2002 in the Sydney ODI against Australia just in the age of 20. Since then, he never looked back and now, he is the second player in the history of the game to play the highest number of Test matches in his career, as he has appeared in 183 matches. Now, he is just behind the former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar who retired after playing 200 Tests.

Apart from that, Jimmy Anderson is also the third-highest wicket-taker in Tests in the all-time history of the game. He is now behind former Aussie leg-spinner Shane Warne in second with 708 wickets and former legendary Sri Lankan star Muttiah Muralitharan who has a surprising number of 800 Test wickets to his name.

Anderson will be in action with England in their upcoming Test assignment, starting next year when the Ben Stokes’ men will travel to India for the five-match Test series. The series will be very crucial for both teams to strengthen their run in the third edition of the World Test Championship; the final of this edition will be played in 2025.
